HISTORY OF ARCHERY COACHING IN SOUTH WALES
The Welsh Archery Coaching Group was first formed in the late 1960’s by the late Doug Woodley, a qualified Grand National Archery Society Regional Coach living in South Wales.
Working under the umbrella of the governing body for archery in the UK, the Grand National Archery Society (now known as Archery GB) the group of coaches have worked to improve the standard of archery in Wales.
Since its inception, the coaches have run coach education courses and performance courses.
The coaches running these courses are qualified Archery GB coaches, tutors and assessors. They are able to run leader courses, level 1 , level 2 and County Coach education courses. On satisfactory completion of the education course archers are examined by Archery GB examiners and if successful awarded a coaching certificate issued by Archery GB which is recognised throughout the UK.
County Coaches are qualified to run development squads, coaching clinics and improvers courses.
Workshops are a recent introduction and are there for both coaches and archers to improve their knowledge of archery.
If you want to improve your standard of archery then look out for our performance courses and workshops to be held during the winter months each year.
Denise Davies, County Coach.
